Avocado

I gave Nick avocado for the first time tonight. He wouldn't eat the little chunks I cut, but this is how he would eat it...

Dinner with daddy

Daddy is in charge of dinner on Monday's and Wednesday's while I go to my water aerobics class. Yesterday was no different. Nick didn't want to eat at his regular time so Eddie waited til right before I was leaving for class. I got a phone call on my way asking where the camera was...I was really nervous to see what I was coming home to...who knew it would be so cute. We've been letting Nick try dipping things in different tastes. He really likes BBQ sauce on his chicken nuggets. Last night Eddie put an assortment together that included mayonaisse, ketchup, bbq sauce, mustard, and a few others that I don't want to ask about. Nick really liked the mayo! Afterwards Eddie let him eat a vanilla pudding snack. He was in heaven! After water aerobics I came home and changed really quick and Eddie and I went to the movies to see "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" while my parents sat at our house, thanks mom and dad! The movie was hilarious and I really enjoyed our "date" night.
p.s. Tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY!!!

Birthday countdown...

Just in case you didn't know my birthday is in 5 days...

Moving on...

Sadly we have moved on from the highchair. Nick has been fighting his high chair for quite a few weeks now. Some meals are easier than others. The past week he has been screaming and trying to climb into our chairs. We finally just set him in our chair and he ate his full meal. That day I went out and bought a booster. I still have the highchair in the kitchen because I'm still "trying". I'm just not ready to leave the highchair stage and enter the world of boosters. Every day now when I ask him if he's ready to eat, he runs to the chair pats the booster and starts making his way up the chair. Now many of you might not know that our chairs are bar height. Nick pulls the chair out and also pulls out the chair next to it. Maneuvers his legs around so that he pushes himself up the chair with the other chair.

Cornfest

Nick and I went with my parents to the Cornfest Friday night. We walked around the hot downtown streets of Brentwood until we found the petting zoo. Nick had the best time in there...definitely worth $2 a person just to see him chasing all the goats!

He loved the bunnies and was a little intimidated by the cow. He did tell the call "moo" though!

Paperboy

Nicholas LOVES newspapers. Whenever our neighbors go out of town we pick up their paper for them. They've tried putting a hold on their service but the papers always seem to show up anyways. Everyday we walk across the street and pick up the paper. Now Nick loves to "read". He doesn't tear up his books or any of my books. He does tear magazines and newspapers however.

Pixieland

Today we took Nick to Pixieland in Concord. It is an amusement park for kids. They have 6 rides, but Nick was only big enough to go on 3 of them. It is free admission and only $1.25 per ticket with each ride taking 2 tickets each.

Nick went on the cars, the carousel, and the train. I never knew he'd be that excited to go on rides, he even cried when it was time to get off. Makes me a little nervous for the next visit to Disneyland. They also have lake with ducks, geese, and turtles that you can feed.

He was having such a great time, he didn't want to leave...

My little helper

Last night while eating dinner with Nick my kitchen started bugging me. With our hectic schedules I don't have much time to clean anymore. After dinner I started the process. I was sweeping the kitchen floor before vacuuming it up while Nick looked on with fascinated eyes. After I was done he picked up the broom and started sweeping as well. I brought in the swiffer duster and Nick got really excited. Eddie lets him dust the TV, so of course he wanted to play with the duster as well.

He was such a good helper...now if I could only get him to clean up his toys (in time I know!)

My favorite thing...

Nick has an obsession with my blow dryer. Whether it be running into the back of the house the minute he hears it, or pulling it out from the cabinet EVERY time he's in the bathroom and of course dragging it throughout the house.

I think I may have a hair stylist on my hands...

Nick has found the power button on the TV. He thinks it's really funny to turn the TV off and wave bye bye to it over and over again....

Gymboree

Nick and I went to a "preview class" today of Gymboree and he had a blast...

Every Friday at 10 am we will now be at Gymboree!

Birds

Nick really likes birds. Every time we're outside he's looking for them and when they fly away he throws up his hands wondering where they went. We decided it would be fun to get a birdfeeder for the front of the house so that he could look out the window and see the birdies eat. It took them about 4 days, but they finally found the food and we're all enjoying our new friends.

Bumps & Bruises

Last Friday we went to a playgroup at the park with a group I found on meetup.com. We had a lot of fun and met a lot of new people. Nick has always been somewhat of a daredevil...but after 2 falls he looked like he got beat up pretty bad. We had a great time though and can't wait to see them all again.

He has 2 scratches/burns on his forehead and banged his nose pretty bad.

Bath time

After reading our friend April's blog about her son Ty and seeing the adorable blocks in it, I had to get some for Nick. We picked some up from Target today. As I was running Nick's bath tonight he ran into the living room, picked up his blocks, and brought them into the bathroom and threw them in the tub with him.

Notice how well they are placed....

This one is just because it's so darn cute!

Using a fork

Nick has been trying to use a fork for quite a few months now and we aren't discouraging it one bit. We've been using the take and toss plastic forks for a while now, but he can't seem to "stab" things with them very well. He's taken a liking to our forks but seems to injure himself quite frequently. It's gotten to the point where he doesn't want to eat food unless he has a fork on his tray. Today at Target I bought him some "toddler forks".
